In order to the use the Google Maps Navigation app on your Motorola Droid, you will need the Droid car mount which will cost $29.99 and will become available on November 6. Setup your Droid car mount, put the phone into Car Mode, and you’ll see a calling and navigation interface.
You don't need the car dock in order to use Navigation though it does make it easier to view.
To enable Navigation you can either manually start Car Home or when using Maps, Menu, Directions, enter your destination and select Navigate when the steps come back.
You could even make this easier by manually typing in a contact's info and street address (presetting contacts beforehand) and using google voice afterwards ["directions to (name of person)"] to bypass the steps of manually going into maps. Next, a screen will come up and will show you a listing to determine the person's name to verify your verbal command and just navigate from there. With that being said, speaking clearly would be helpful!
Even using google voice to search for a certain location and getting the directions from the browser can be more convenient (depending if you have the name of the place).
Getting that car mount to stay on your windsheild is a problem, not getting nav. To find a place I use mine daily but can't get the mount to stick for nothing. I've tried everything but glueing it to the window lol
That's weird because I've been using mine since November and I use it for 9 hours a day while at work. It's never come off the windshield unless I take it off myself.
Make sure your suction cup is nice and clean, with no tears. You might need a new one. I've just never seen that problem with these. Mine sticks like superglue.
Best Buy has a $20 mount thatwill either mount to the air vent or a stick on option. It allows for horizontal and verticle use and tilts. Doesn't interfere with the power cord. I'll try to get a pic and a name later. I reall likey it.
