Skyfire Web Browser BETA
EDIT 5/02/2010 * See my update in the "Flash viewing to an extent" after reading this post for updates. Hi all, as noted in the "flash to an extent" thread I brought Skyfire to attention. I have been using Skyfire for about an hour now ( 2:00 pm 4/29/10 ) & have a quick review to this point; the browser is fast, at least as fast as Opera, if not faster, tabs, although a bit awkward to get used to work very well, flash video on 3 separate news websites have all worked after the few seconds the browser needs to convert the format & they look great on my Droid, sound quality is acceptable but not great, this may be due to the original content, the conversion or possibly the Droid itself. As I noted the browser is a beta, as a result pinch to zoom / reduce is not as smooth as with the standard browser but it does work. Though a bit quirky / awkward to use at first, the developers, in my opinion, have a winner & we will all benefit as a result of the work done so far with Skyfire, hopefully Adobe will release flash for Android very soon as Skyfire shows how much we have been missing to this point, one other point I would like to bring up, memory management appears to have been well thought out as well, with 3 tabs opened I checked available memory & had 73 MB available, much more than I have EVER HAD free with the standard browser, Opera or Dolphin, again, a great job by the developers, thank you. Skyfire browser is available to download in the market place, I encourage all of you to give it a try, I'm about to send the developers a big thumbs up. Richg
