Two SMS apps

I downloaded the Handcent SMS app so I could send music and ringtones and now everytime I get a text it's doubled.One from Handcent and one from the original app.How can I delete the original app?Will it cause any problems if deleted?

I use ShoutOut app that lets you talk in the phone and it writes it out for you the lazy mans texing app and I get the same text on both it's no big deal both apps just pick up the same text Don't Worry about it it is normal for it to do that.
